Well....mini-me won the battle...I colored my hair...lol...I tried hard to fight her everybody!! I told her to leave me alone...go away!!...I told her she was about to STRAIGHT jack me up....but she won the batte and now I've got a new attitude!...
You know how you feel when you don't feel well and look in the mirror and KNOW you're looking wack? Well that's what I've been experiencing for several months now...my hair is dead on point as far as I'm concerned, so that wasn't really an issue... but the GRAY hair was bugging me REALLY bad....Sometimes a woman gotta do what a woman gotta do...only this time I truly proceeded with CAUTION!
I bought some temporary hair color called KISS...these are the people who make those nail polishes and lipsticks that only cost a dollar....lol....
It's the same formulation as Jazzing and Sebastian haircolor, and I knew I could use those without ending up in the emergency room...now one thing I've discovered is once mini-me decides I am going to do something it's done with a singlemindedness that is fierce!! I went to two beauty supplies looking for Jazzing and neither one of them had Jazzing in black...oh they had PLENTY of RED, but the last time I put a red color over my gray I ended up with the pink/fuschia hair....I ain't going out like that again....lol....
So me being me, I didn't want to search further for the real deal with I knew wouldn't jack me up....oh noooo.... that would be too easy!! So mini-me says.."go ahead daez....get that $3.99 haircolor and get rid of that gray hair...you KNOW you wanna do it!!!"....I started to walk out of the store..but mini-me said..."daez!!! don't leave this store without buying that stuff...if you go home without it you'll just mope around and come back tomorrow anyway"....lol....and it's true...I would have!!
So I bought the color and kept it for a couple of days, looking at it frequently and trying to decide if I was willing to risk it since it was an "unknown" offbrand color....but of course once I had it I knew I would use it!
I cannot tell you how wonderful and uplifting for my spirit it was to rinse that stuff out of my hair and look in the mirror and see the "old" me!! The me that had dark...shiny hair like the good old days!
Now I can actually see the definition of my freestyling locs and can enjoy it! And here's the really funny part...I was talking to Sly Johnson of Sly Salon yesterday, and we were having this deep discussion on how women are putting this haircoloring stuff on their hair that has PLASTIC in it! He said there are products on the market that actually coat your hair with plastic, and the plastic is dyed all these different colors....
When you use these colorants, they coat your hair with this plastic stuff that sticks to your hair....and it really doesn't come out...so everytime you apply it, it coats your hair a little more...now when he and I were having this discussion we were talking about the damage women do to their hair with relaxers...because when you relax your hair and then add these certain types of colorants it weakens your hair even more....
So I'm sitting there yucking it up about people actually putting a plastic coating on their hair...one that will stay there...and then he says, "Yeah...it's those colorants like Sebastian and Jazzing"..........er..er...ahhhh...I was speechless!!!! And then I started cracking up so hard I almost fell on the floor....I told him that was the kind of color I had JUST put on my hair and we both dang near died laughing'....lol....he even high fived me and said, "Ahahaa... they GOTCHA!!"....and all I could do was laugh....
But after all is said and done, I am extremely happy about the color...and I think it did a world of good to lift my spirits...so all is well in daez land...lol...
