Denver....Locs Around Town V
I've been out of the loop lately...just taking care of business and laying low...But I've been "reminded" gently that I haven't been keeping the website up on what's happening around town...

So I'm prepared to do "drive-by" photo shoots if necessary just to keep the flow going....lol...I've met some wonderful people and had a ball....come meet the newest members of
Denver Locs Around Town...Version 2003!
Mark

Loced 2 years
I met this adorable 18 year Denver resident in the neighborhood Walmart.  Mark has been loced for two years and we had a very interesting conversation while I was taking his pictures....and as handsome as he is, his spirit is just as wonderful....

Mark's late father was a Barber in New Jersey for 34 years...and according to Mark, his father kept his hair laid and waved...

When Mark's father passed on 9 years ago he decided to let his hair grow..and grow it did!!  He had a huge 'fro for a while but 2 years ago he decided to loc his hair...Mark is a photographer, and he said my picture taking skill is pretty dayum good....lol....
Okay...so now it gets kinda funny....I had taken the pictures of Mark from the back and inquired why he had breakage in the back....Mark has:
YOU GUESSED IT--"hand in loc disease"...
We had a good laugh at that one...Mark says he can't keep his hands out of his locs...truthfully, I wanted to play with them meself.....ahahaaaaa...

He said he's been using black beeswax to twist his hair...and it works!  I didn't notice any buildup, but did see some lint....

One thing I have realized when sghiting locs all over the place...MOST people have lint somewhere in or on their locs....I even found some on a couple of MINE (
oh noooo)...but LINT is not DIRT...and no matter what you do, most people will find a tiny piece or two imbedded in their crown.....so don't sweat it, just try to get it out.....if it won't come out...so what!!....

Cool brother Mark...ya gotta come to our Hair Day on the 16th and dazzle the ladies with your wit and charm...give me a call so we can sit down and have that deep chat we talked about....and Mark....Thank you!  You are a very sweet guy with a great conversation....I'm sure the people would LOVE to hear more from real soon!....

                ((((((((HUGS)))))))))

....just me...daez
Jacqueline

Loced 12 years
I have met a new friend....I don't say this lightly, because I have very few friends... what I have a three friends and a LOT of acquaintances....but this lady is right on point with me!!  I met Jacque when I was at the post office, right after I left Mark at Walmarts.  We walked in at the same time and both stopped dead in our tracks when we saw the long line....lol....

We started chatting as we waited, and after we handled our bidness we chatted some more!  By the time we parted an hour and a half later I had made a new buddy!...
Jacque has a beautiful creative crown of locs on her head...her hair texture is soft as a baby's and she shaves the sides and back off....

She said she started doing this because of the heat...the very top of her head is not loced at all....the sides are faded and closely cropped, as well as the back...

It's fascinating talking to people who had the guts and will to loc their crowns before it became the norm...their reasons compared to the reasons a lot of people have today cannot be compared...

Jacque's journey started like mine....she wanted to free herself from relaxers and breakage....she wasn't sure if she liked the way she looked with just a little hair....her hair would not loc for the longest!  Every since she began her journey she has loved it....I think we are sisters....lol.....

Jacque just recently had surgery on her arm and is in healing mode...I caught the sistah straight off guard but she is a soldier and jumped right into the camera....

She works in the political arena here in Denver...so if you decide you want to go into politics and have locs in your hair take a good look at Jacque's hair, aiight....this sister is taking
NO flack and NO prisoners...lol..!!!

Jacque, my sistah....give me a holla so we can break bread and conversate some more girl...I'm glad I met you and know we will be friends for life....see ya at Hair Day...and Jacque, I just want to THANK you again my sistah...((HUGS))
Thank you God for giving me another day of life....AMEN.....
