It's been 7 whole months since Victor started his dreadlock journey...the last time I posted about his locs he was sent home to twist his own hair....lol.. Well, they are looking and feeling so good he's decided to just let them do their own dang thing.....I had dinner with my beloved former in-laws on New Year's Day, and had a chance to get busy with the camera....lol....and Vic's offical loc inspection...lol...

So Vic's hair is still growing like crazy....and now he does absolutely nothing to it but wash it...oil it...and go.... I asked him why he decided not to twist his locs anymore and he gave me an excellent answer....One reason is because he's very cool with the appearance... now keep in mind he's a professional and has to maintain a certain dress code. However...the locs on his head have NOTHING to do with his apparell nor his skill....The other reason is because everytime he thinks it's time to twist them someone tells him how good it's looking....lol....and believe me, it does look good... totally free and well on the way to completely locing up......

You can see all the buds on the locs which I started for him....keep in mind, NOTHING has been done to his hair since October!!! Each bud is still in place and each loc is still individual... no twisting at all....pretty cool, huh....

For you sisters and brothers who are wondering how your locs will look once you stop twisting here it is... Do NOT let anyone ever tell you to give up...because as you can see, his hair is locing allllll by itself!!......hang in there...our hair was MADE for dreadlocks....

I'm not going to lie to you...it takes a certain amount of confidence and a TON of patience to loc your hair....and Victor has been blessed with both of these qualities...not ONCE has he asked when his hair will look or feel any different than it does now...he has faith that he's on the right path.... If you believe in yourself and know you are clean of mind and spirit, NOTHING can keep you from achieving whatever goal you set for yourself....and since locing your hair is the ultimate goal for your hair, you can see from watching Victor's journey it can be done with twisting....or nothing at all... ***Loc inspection*** Okay....ya'll KNOW I had to go there because his babylocs had been really pampered...I wanted to make sure his scalp was clean and his locs remained lint and debris free....and of course, they are....lol....I think I've turned into a good teacher...considering I had to learn everything the HARD way....lol.... PRODUCTS** African Herbal Shampoo - a natural shampoo sold by a Black owned salon ORS Hair Treatment - for oiling dry scalp PK's Scalp Spray - to relieve any itching and for in between shampoo's Bottom line and things to watch for when freestyling or locing in general: If you are doing this form of locing from the beginning of your journey, and you are wondering what the signs of locing you will have are, know this....your locs will begin to appear tighter and firmer....they will also begin to shrink up as time goes on....this is a good thing...so don't trip....it's really not quite a visible shrinkage...it's more like a compact-ness (if that's a word)) because that means they are beginning to reach a whole new stage of locing...so they may not look as long as you THINK they should look considering the time factor... In reality, your hair is growing just like it always did...the difference is, when you comb your hair, it sheds everyday...the hairs that normally would be shedding are now still on your head...compacting...meshing...firming...tightening.... When you reach this stage there is no way you can take your locs down anymore...from this point on, if you don't like your locs you have to cut the firmed up tips and buds OFF....so bottom line, if you are not sure you really want to go the distance, if you are not committed to the journey....DO NOT PASS GO....and stop before you even get started, aiight.....((HUGS))....lol... So even though Victor has been freestyling the past few months, he's ready for a lil' pampering....he wants to come over to get his hair palm rolled...so watch for more pictures real soon..... Thank you God for giving me another day of life....AMEN.....

** Point of no return...this is the stage where each loc is there to stay....or be CUT off to stop the locing process....
I tried to get photos from different angles so you can get the full impact of Vic's teenage locs....for they are now in that stage....and you can see how they are each standing on their own from this angle...I always wanted MY locs to look like this, but I spent so much time straight JACKING mine up they never got this far....lol....he's doing a great job because he's not seeking more than time allows....feel me on this????......Uh huhhh....
